Watch the Sun Set

This is a great summer Family Home Evening. Plan this FHE a little later in the evening than normal. Pack up some snacks and find a good place to watch the sun set. This will all depend on where you live. When we used to live in Idaho there were several places we liked to go watch the sunsets, some a little further of a drive than others. In our new town we haven 't yet found any spectacular spots, but having grown up here, I have a few ideas in mind. I'm sure with a little thought you will be able to come up with a good place. If you have the time and the kids allow, take the chance to look at and point out some of the constellations. Talk about how much Heavenly Father loves us and what a beautiful place He has given us to live. And as always, begin and end with a prayer!

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

After you have had an opening prayer and a spiritual thought of some kind, take your family out a fly a kite. You can pick up cheap kites at stores like Wal-Mart and Target. We've even gotten one at Good Will for a dollar. It's a fun activity to do that will get you out of the house. So, gather your kite strings and head for an open patch of breezy grass. This would be perfect if you live near the ocean (of which I am insanely jealous). It's almost always perfect kite-flying weather at the beach! Don't forget to have a closing prayer and thank Heavenly Father for being able to enjoy his creations.
